BRAMPTON - Summer theatre continues to thrive in Brampton’s downtown core, and the Flower City Theatre Festival is gearing up to present the second presentation of Shakespeare in the Square.
Running July 31 to Aug. 24, The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be staged on the Central Fountain stage in the Rose Theatre Garden Square.
The classic tale sees two childhood friends Valentine and Proteus find their way through a maze of unrequited love, misdirected lust and expectations of class to discover their true love and who they really are.
In addition to the regularly scheduled performances, organizers have added two shows in the Bandshell area at Bramalea’s Chinguacousy Park.
The Aug. 15 and 16 shows will make popular historical literature available to a much wider local audience and inspire them with its authenticity and theatrics, rapiers drawn and rich, medieval attire.
All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The event is pay-what-you-can.
