BRAMPTON - Brampton-Springdale MP Ruby Dhalla will host her fifth annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ today (Sunday) from 1 to 4 p.m. at 284 Queen St. E. (the plaza at Queen Street East and Hansen Road).

Special to this year's event is the presentation of the Dr. Reyes Volunteer Appreciation Award.

Sponsored by The Brampton Guardian and Ruby Dhalla, the award will be presented to two outstanding members of the Brampton community in memory of Dr. Florante Cruz Reyes, who devoted tremendous time and effort as a volunteer with the Brampton Filipino Seniors Club and the Brampton-Springdale Federal Riding Association to help make Brampton a better place.

The event includes entertainment, food and refreshments and clowns for the kids.

"Volunteers are true examples of what it means to be Canadian. Their devotion to helping others and building a safer community is admirable," said Dhalla.
