BRAMPTON - Brampton's Paula Mitchell will be attending the illustrious Jake's Classic at the Cliffs golf tournament in June.

The Royal LePage real estate agent won the prize by making a $5 donation to charity at the Golf and Travel Show. She was then entered into a raffle, the purpose of which was to raise money for autistic children.

"I didn't even know what the prize was," said Mitchell in an interview with The Guardian. "I only donated to help out the foundation."

Mitchell's magnanimous nature has led her to help various organizations in the community. Just last year, she organized a golf tournament and raised over $5,000 for the Women's Shelter of Peel.

As part of the trip, Mitchell will travel via private jet to The Cliffs Communities in South Carolina where the tournament will take place.

The tournament features golf with celebrities, all-inclusive meals, golf prizes, and many other attractions. The courses that the golfers will play on are the Keowee Vineyards and Keowee Falls South.

The tournament itself is in support of Jake's House, a charity that provides support and assistance to families and children affected by autism.

Autism is a neurological disorder that affects one in 166 children in Canada, according to Jake's House.

The symptoms of this disorder vary from individual to individual, but generally those affected by it have challenges with verbal communications, both verbal and non-verbal, and social interactions.

"I think there is a cure for autism, they just need more money to help fund research," said Mitchell.

The tournament will help raise funds for the Jake's House charity as well as awareness for the existence of autism.
