BRAMPTON -
BRAMPTON, ON. (July 04, 2008) – In partnership with Lowe’s, Region of Peel staff will provide instant rebates of $60 and $100 on water efficient toilets on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. The event will be held at two Lowe’s stores in Brampton, in an effort to encourage residents to choose water efficient toilets that will help them save water and money this summer.
The following Lowe’s locations are taking part:
370 Kennedy Road South, Brampton, ON, L6W 4V2 (Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue)
10111 Heart Lake Road, Brampton, ON, L6Z 0E4 (Bovaird Drive and Heartlake Road)
The instant rebate will be taken off the price of the toilet at the point of purchase and equal $60 for Peel-Approved 6L toilets, and $100 for Peel-Approved toilets that flush with 4.8L or less. The instant rebates will only be available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the event dates. The instant rebate applies to in stock toilets only, and there will be no rain checks.
Region of Peel staff will be at each store to help residents fill out application forms, assist residents with the selection of approved toilet models, and answer any questions about water efficiency.
To be eligible for the instant rebates, you must live in Peel and own or rent a single or multi-family dwelling. Residents are requested to bring a copy of their water bill or valid photo ID to verify eligibility.
Mail-in rebates are also available from the Region of Peel on an ongoing basis as part of the Toilet Replacement Program. In 2007, the Region of Peel provided 11,502 rebates to residents as incentive to phase out older, less efficient (13-20 L) toilet models, which saved an estimated 1.22 million litres of water. The reduction in water and wastewater that requires treatment and distribution also contributes to a reduction in energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
